Service, a 27-year-old Quebec native, has performed 28 video games for the Predators this season, contributing seven factors (one purpose, six assists) and logging a median of 20:08 of ice time per recreation. Recognized for his energetic stick and flexibility, Service has been a key penalty killer, averaging 2:44 per recreation in shorthanded conditions, the second-highest on Nashville’s roster. Over his 245 NHL video games, Service has tallied 69 factors (11 targets, 58 assists).
He has two seasons remaining on a deal that pays him $3.75M per season.
Heading to Nashville is Justin Barron, a 23-year-old defenseman who scored one purpose in 17 video games for Montreal this season. Since being acquired by the Canadiens in 2021-22, Barron has recorded 31 factors (13 targets, 18 assists) throughout 109 NHL video games.
As @JFreshHockey points out, Barron, now with Nashville, is a younger, offensive-minded defenseman with a robust shot, suited to a bottom-pairing position. Service, heading to Montreal, is a talented top-four defensive defenseman. Regardless of his smaller measurement, Service excels at disrupting performs and provides occasional offensive contributions. Although he’s struggled this season in a difficult position, his previous performances present he can successfully anchor a protection and bolster the Canadiens’ blue line.
Barron is yr considered one of a two-year deal that pays him $1.15M per season.
