Columbus, GA – The Columbus River Dragons defeated the Athens Rock Lobsters in regulation Saturday evening, 8–4.
The primary interval was evenly performed by the River Dragons and the Rock Lobsters. Tyler Barrow, Chiwetin Blacksmith, and Kevin Szabad recorded objectives for the River Dragons.
Brandon Picard and Eric Neiley scored objectives for the Rock Lobsters and Joe Mack tied the sport with a buzzer beater, closing the primary interval tied, 3-3.
The second interval was dominated by the River Dragons. Tyler Barrow scored for Columbus, and Ryan Hunter buried one on an influence play, pulling forward of Athens by two to shut the second body, 5-3.
The ultimate interval of regulation noticed a fast response from Athens, when Joe Mack scored the Rock Lobsters’ fourth and remaining aim of the evening 79 seconds into the body.
Columbus responded thrice. Benjamin Pizzimenti squeezed one in previous Athens goaltender William Lavalliere at 9:47. Alex Storjohann and Ryan Galvin poured salt on Athens’ wounds, every producing shorthanded objectives.
The evening ended with the River Dragons taking their first W in opposition to the Rock Lobsters this season, claiming victory in regulation, 8-4.

The River Dragons put together to face off in opposition to the Twin Metropolis Thunderbirds on Friday at house, marking their fifth matchup this season. Puck drop is scheduled to happen on the Columbus Civic Heart on Friday at 7:35 pm.
The Rock Lobsters will battle the Pee Dee Ice Cats at house on Saturday.
